Week 04 - Creative Commons

Creative commons and Magnatune...what a great idea!!!

In the interview with John Buckman he states that there was a ton of music out there that was not getting published, and a lot of genres of music that were getting lost.  Magnatunes is doing a great service to musicians and society alike.  I signed up for their free trial and have been listening to some of there stuff.  It's great.  The fact that they can do this and encourage artists to put out music in a way that gives them the right to make decisions about how it is used I'm sure if a relief and miracle to the artists that are struggling to be heard.

Creative commons seems to work in the same manor, they just work with all kinds of artists, musicians & writters.  Get it out there.  Let them be heard and give them a chance at their dreams.

  1. I really think this is a wonderful way to make music more accessible compared to the "old school" way of doing things. It gives artists more of a creative license and exposure and that can only help in the long run.

  2. I have to agree. I think that creative commons are wonderful and I can see that that is where copyrights are going to change slightly. This is going to help my boyfriend and I use when we are ready to put our music out there.
